WE HEART J.W. ANDERSON EMBROIDERED TEE!

Classic, richly detail, white t-shirt from the J.W. Anderson F/W '010 collection gets our hearts uprising! The 100% cotton is not what's getting us oversweet; of course it's the heart-shaped tassel embroidery getting us charged.

I can see you now: Chocolate color suit, J.W. Anderson heart tee, and delightful suede steppers parading the town. OK, maybe that's Mr. MSR's styling pick. =)

However you style it, the top is full of love + character.

SUMMER SOFT STEPPERS

Gliding the grounds in compromising footwear is the last thing you'd want to be summer indulging. Instead step light. Step right.

I went to market scoring season-lustful finds. From cushiony to soft-soled, MSR selected flavorful picks to help trod a soft step and comfy pep.

TOMS

Here's a brand that marries philanthropic passion and inventive whimsy designs. The shoe's versatile appeal offers wearers wardrobe options--from summer casual to summer hip--in one dose. I say cool! The craftsmanship is straightforward. Rich fabrics (ranging from swanky burlap to plush organic cotton) adjoined to EVA cushion insoles. Oh yea, and awesome latex arch supports. TOMS popular appeal gives buyers a key promise: Happiness Guaranteed.

What more can you ask of TOMS after that hardy promise?! Zilch.

GAP

Tried and true from 1969.

Since Patrick Robinson's creative director appointment, GAP's been modernizing classics. A sheer example with the unfussy fresh deck shoe fulling out below. With a recognizing return of the "deck" style, GAP interpretation ring out summer staple! Packing cotton canvas and breathable cushion the shoe steers summer walking on the right path.

Cole, Rood & Haan

The boat shoe is all the [trend] rage still. Three summers in counting...

Every season I nail a boat shoe I can effortlessly slide on. '010's summer shoe saunters over from design house Cole, Rood & Haan! The "Ducky" style promotes a clever incorporation of hidden elasticized goring for lace less wearing. And to boot, the Ducky boast immaculate hand sewing and hand-crafting of vegetable Italian leather.

Without difficulty I can softly say: I’ll be decking in my Ducky’s come yachting time in Montauk.

EYE(MAZING) SUMMER.

While everyone and their kin decided to jam pack the Ray-Ban train, I’m perched—summer novel in tow—awaiting the illesteva train.

Italy-manufactured New York-based, illesteva, came honking in with a debut collection of eye-swooning specs. Boasting photocromic lenses (lenses that darken on exposure to ultraviolet rays) and premium materials (titanium, bamboo, acetate), we have a simple sunglass win for the season.

What more can you ask for…

LOST WITH INTERVIEW MAGAZINE.

Month-to-month like an addict I can be caught curled up taking hits and lines of magazines. Call me a mag-druggy or whatever the reference but Mr. MSR stays loyal to my style feeders.

This month euphoric hit came feeding from Karl Templer. Karl decided ‘Let’s Get Lost’ in Interview’s May issue. Photog Mikael Jansson captured staggering images. The lighting flawless. Styling and gritty set design outstanding. I would have love more prominent images of the surrounding models and not just centric attention on Daria Werbowy.

Nonetheless, the 5+ page spread smoothed out well.

RAIN WEATHER STYLE AND FUNCTION

Just when I thought to start unpacking and freshening Spring gear, slush and sludge came plopping on the windowsill today. Mr. MSR was prepared nonetheless. Suited and booted (literally). The rainy weather brought me back to Patrik Ervell's recent "Peekaboo Slicker" for his Fall/Winter presentation.

Patrik designed a multitude of clear rain wear--in traditional cuts and poncho styles. I rooted for his traditional style simply because of the unique designing and made-to-measure appeal it offered.

A. MCQUEEN: THE GOOD DIE YOUNG

Over the weekend I tuned up Dion Dimucci's "Abraham Martin and John" as Smokey Robinson smoothly renditioned the song. Overall the lyrics speaks on "great men we lost." As the track went along I fixed my thoughts on Sir Alexander McQueen.

During the world wind of New York Fashion Week news quickly ricocheted of the untimely death of design powerhouse Alexander McQueen. It wasn't a secret, McQueen dealt with dark emotions and angst oftentimes coupled with instant fame. The issues however massive, never seem to interfere with Alex's hit-after-hit seasonal designs!

Since his sudden death, supermodel Naomi Campbell have debut Alexander's Spring pieces for her runway shows to benefit Haiti. Although I'll miss his energetic collections I am pleased the Gucci Group will continue his design legacy moving forward.

Rest In Perfect Peace Alex.

LUXE GROOMING: JOHN ALLAN'S SPA

The word "spa" quickly conjures thoughts of peace, tranquil, zen, and all other serene synonyms. Imagine how Mr. MSR felt after striding in John Allan's welcoming clubby interiors (located @ 46 E. 46th Street) on Thanksgiving Eve. The perfect touch-up before feasting with family. As a deluxe grooming indulge I chose John Allan's full white glove (literally) experience!

The Signature Full Service (Only $65) pampering boasts: A deep scalp shampoo massage [nearly dozed off :)]. A mild hair conditioning session. Hot towel face treatment. Haircut. Manicure. Lastly, a look-down-here shoe shine!

J.A.S. staffers I engaged--from reception hosts to shampoo expert--I notice, I built quick rapports. Case-in-point: My female barber who perfected up a fly-guy dark Caesar 'cut, bundled a basket of tips for my current barber to apply. Although The Signature... packs a surplus of services, the overall session is prompt with detail attention. Simply put, John Allan ladies hands perform swiftly. (Beauty experts undergo a fierce J.A.S training regimen no matter their previous experience.)

Other offering essentials I can appreciate: A quintessential pool table for shooting billiards with pals. A private bar stocking top shelf libations and a cozy TV room to kickback with treasured sitcoms.

John Allan's Grooming Goods:

Currently I'm interacting the brand's newest Travel Kit bundle! The "guy tested, airline approved" see-through pouch of grooming essentials (Ocean Shampoo, Mint Conditioner, Scrub Face Exfoliant, Shave Cream, and Bodywash all in 1.0z bottles) eliminates your need for boxy + big beauty items.

Mr. MSR say "condense is always the best sense!

FASHION WEEK RECAPS

NYC menswear shows are pumping off on a strong beat for Spring/Summer ‘010. With interesting cuts and fabrics, the coterie of menswear crafters seems to be incorporating distinctive trends. Very refreshing to see.

3.1 Phillip Lim

We champion and promote everything Phillip Lim. In a raw loft space yesterday—tattered and mildly ransacked—models dotted through in relaxed presentation form, sporting a tasteful crop of Spring pieces. Phillip drew collection inspiration from the ‘Beatnik Movement’. (Beatniks expressed their alienation from conventional, or “square,” society in the ‘50s.) Phillip outpoured loose and shapely trousers, wildly printed jacket and pant matching, plunging neckline t-shirts with drop-down buttons peppering downward. The accessories were fun, playful, and a bit sporty. Standouts: Detachable ankle strap footwear (great when incorporating different looks) and flashy rock star sunglasses!

Loden Dager

With mild rain monsoons swarming, my colleague Kwasi and I trekked up to Axelle Gallery to check the 4 design chaps of Loden Dager. Known for their precise sportswear fits and precision cuts, the Loden team shot out voluminous silhouettes across the board. A clear changeup for the Loden brand. The multiple pocket trousers in denim and khaki along with the ranging springy hues (bold turquoise, stonewash peaches, and sandy browns) piqued several interests. The show favorite: A slim-cut drawstring rain slicker.

VANITY FAIR: CONSISTENT POWER DRESSERS

You awake with eye crusts or maybe drips of drool firmed on the lip brim. What's your first course of morning action? If by any chance you won a spot on Vanity Fair's juried '09 International Best-Dressed List , I guarantee you're coordinating statement looks at the crack of dawn. Reading certain considered fashionista names on VF's list puzzled me. Like ???

Some distasteful, uninspired and far-out fashion players made the cut and it just didn't rest well. I came to the conclusion, the individuals held clout or some power handling among the Vanity Fair empire. I digress. The list included scores of style-wielding ladies and sharp-attired gentlemen.

MSR is celebrating the guys who starred the coveted list !!!
