VOGUE, WHY, WHY?

:(

Firstly, I am disappointed at the cliché cover photo Annie Leibovitz shot of LeBron James. The pigskin basketball weaved with LeBron is so passé. Secondly, where was his fashion (Giselle was radiating)? To me LeBron, well, was just LeBron from the court. I can’t believe this shot was approved by VOGUE editrix Anna Wintour.

Despite VOGUE missing the huge style mark, they made up (somewhat) with other athlete/model parings: Others include swimmer Michael Phelps with Caroline Trentini, snowboarder Shaun White with Daria Werbowy; and speed skater Apolo Ohno with Doutzen Kroes.

Speaking of fashion and sports in the same mix I just received some exclusives from ESPN magazine. The magazine is stepping up their fashion coverage! They even hired a style director (Kevin Stewart, congrats! You’ve seen his bylines in Details, Men’s Fitness, Savoy, Vibe, etc.) to spearhead the fashion efforts and will start running the fashion credits. According to ESPN insiders, it’s a great platform for the publication to tap into the fashion advertisement dollars.

In addition, this year there will be a spring fashion portfolio, another in the fall and one during the holidays.
